It’s no longer news that Apple is prepared to launch its latest series believed to be iPhone 12 before the end of the year, 2020. The highly anticipated iPhone 12 will no doubt fullfil iPhone users’ expectations as it promises to be built with improved OLED 6.1-inch screen.

The iPhone 12 actually isn’t the first of Apple phones to be adorned with the OLED screen as the previous iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max all had OLED screens. The only shift here is that the coming iPhone 12 OLED screens will be supplied by LG and not Samsung who has been enjoying Apple’s patronage when it comes to screens.
To breakaway from Apple’s dependence on Samsung for screens, it has been reported that Apple has taken delivery of an order of about 20 million screens for the iPhone 12 series, which as usual is expected to come in the format of iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro and and iPhone 12 Pro Max. This deal will indeed be one of the major deals involving Apple and LG.
Previously in 2019, the iPhone 11 came with LCD screen made by LG while those of iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max however were OLED screens made by Samsung. But this time, LG will produce the screens that will use a sophisticated display tech called Y-OCTA still made by Samsung. What the Y-OCTA display tech does is to remove the separate touch sensor layer, which makes for a thinner and clearer display. Meanwhile, the Y-OCTA display tech will only be used on the ‘Pro’ Variants. While the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro are expected to come with 6.1-inch screen display, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will come with a whopping 6.7-inch display.
